1. Baseboards and Molding
These ledges are small, but they can be a magnet for tiny compounds in the air. Look at the woodwork in your home, and you will likely see a visible film of dust gathering on the edges. The baseboards and crown molding should be wiped down twice a month.
2. Intake Vents
To keep the air circulating through your home, it is necessary for the HVAC system to suck in air. Locate the intake vents, and you will probably see a layer dust and grime building up on the outside surface. The most common way to clean the vent is with a vacuum attachment. Another option is to use a screwdriver to take the vent off the wall and wash it down in a utility sink.
3. Ceiling Fans
Are there ceiling fans in your home that aren’t often used? The surface of the fan blade is a perfect location for dirt and dust to gather. Turning on the fan will spread the particles throughout the room. Wipe down all surfaces of a ceiling fan at least once a month.
4. Top of the Cabinets
Most homeowners don’t look at the space above their cabinets. It can be gross to find a thick layer of greasy dust above the cooking area. Each time you clean the kitchen, grab a stepstool to wipe down all surfaces of the cabinets. Even the small ledges at the top of the cabinet doors need to be wiped.
